
Job Description
As a CNC Operator at PWI, you play a key role in producing precision parts and components that support our products and projects. You will read and interpret shop drawings, set up and operate CNC equipment, and ensure all work meets quality standards. Your work directly impacts production flow, job timelines, and the accuracy and reliability of our finished products.
Responsibilities
- CNC Operation & Production: Set up, operate, and monitor CNC equipment to produce quality parts and components. Read and interpret blueprints, cut sheets, travelers, and measurements to ensure parts are manufactured to specification.
- Production Quality & Completion: Complete assigned jobs on time while maintaining high-quality standards. Perform personal quality checks to verify dimensions, accuracy, and completeness before releasing work.
- Materials & Equipment Use: Inspect materials before use, operate equipment such as CNC lasers, plasma tables, saws, forklifts, and overhead cranes, and maintain an organized and safe work area. Perform basic troubleshooting and report equipment issues or material concerns promptly.

Education or Experience
- Experience operating CNC equipment preferred, including laser cutters, plasma tables, saws, or similar machinery.
- Experience reading blueprints, shop drawings, and measuring parts preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or production environments preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Possess or be able to obtain forklift certification.
- Overhead crane experience preferred.
- Additional training will be provided as needed.
Other Skills & Abilities
- Ability to read a tape measure and use precision measuring tools.
- Basic computer skills for machine operation and production tracking.
- Light CNC programming experience preferred or ability to learn.
- Ability to identify and communicate quality or production concerns.
Physical Abilities
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and use hands and fingers to handle or free objects.
- The use of common hand tools and manufacturing equipment is involved.
- The employee is frequently required to talk, hear, and communicate with other employees both in person and while using a telephone.
- The employee must be able to move and/or lift objects up to 50 pounds often.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Cognitive and Communication Abilities
- Ability to perform basic math and measurement calculations required for production tasks.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, cut sheets, travelers, and specifications.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate quality or production concerns clearly.
Location
- Willing to work on-site at PWI in Nappanee, Indiana.

Compensation
$22-$28/HR + regular overtime and hourly bonus program.
Hours
5:00 AM – 3:00 PM + overtime available (M-F) – Third Shift opportunities available as well
