Job Description
As the Software Applications Manager at PWI, you lead the technical execution of internal applications and integrations that support business operations and automate engineering and design workflows. Your role focuses on translating functional requirements into application architecture, coordinating development priorities, and ensuring engineering work progresses efficiently. By leading developers, maintaining consistent application architecture, and supporting complex technical development, you help deliver scalable solutions that keep work moving from sales through installation and after-sale support.
Responsibilities
- Translate Product Needs into Engineering Plans: Work with Automation and ERP product owners to convert functional specifications into application architecture and implementation plans.
- Prioritize and Coordinate Development Work: Organize sprints, prioritize requests from multiple sources, and ensure engineering work progresses efficiently.
- Own Application Architecture: Design and maintain consistent architecture across applications, APIs, and integrations.
- Unblock and Support Developers: Help resolve technical challenges quickly and keep development moving forward.
- Contribute to Development: Write code on complex or high-impact systems and assist developers with difficult technical implementations.
- Review and Maintain Code Quality: Review all code produced by team members to ensure it aligns with engineering standards, is maintainable, and matches project scope before release.

Education or Experience
- Experience managing or leading a software development team, including mentoring and technical oversight.
- Strong system architecture experience, with the ability to translate functional requirements into scalable application design.
- Strong familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
- Experience building and integrating with external APIs.
- Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases, including data modeling and schema design.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) preferred.
- Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React is preferred.
- Experience with Flutter or mobile development preferred

- Strong ability to organize development work and prioritize tasks across multiple projects.

- Ability to understand workflows in a manufacturing setting

Location & Schedule
- Willing to work on-site at PWI in Nappanee, Indiana
- Full-time, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM with the ability to work additional hours as needed.
